A Practice Built for Depth and Continuity

How Dr. Baker Approaches Your Care

Medicine works best when it is personal, deliberate, and centered on a strong physician-patient relationship. Our practice is built on three core pillars designed to provide clear direction for your health.

  • Whole-Picture Insight: We look beyond isolated findings. Instead of treating data points in isolation, Dr. Baker looks at how symptoms, labs, history, and lived experience connect to guide individualized long-term care.

  • Patient-Centered Care: We put individuals before protocols. Dr. Baker evaluates the person in front of her rather than defaulting to standardized pathways. She takes the time to listen carefully, explain clinical findings in context, and guide decisions based on your history and goals.
  • Access and Advocacy: You get a physician partnership that extends beyond the visit. Patients are supported by an engaged physician who remains involved, helping you make sense of information, weigh your options, and move forward with clarity and reassurance.

Meet Dr. Susan Baker, MD, FACR, FACP

Experience That Informs Decisions

Dr. Susan Baker’s path to medicine began early. Growing up in Southern California, she heard stories about her grandfather and great-grandfather; both were town doctors in Youngstown, Ohio, whose work was rooted in long-standing patient relationships and service to their community. That classic model of medicine continues to shape her practice today.

Training Rooted in Internal Medicine

Dr. Baker completed medical school at Chicago Medical School, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Illinois Chicago. During her fellowship, she trained under Dr. John Varga, a respected physician-scientist in autoimmune and connective tissue disease, developing a strong foundation in diagnosis and long-term disease management.

Continuity Led by One Physician

In 2003, Dr. Baker opened her private practice in Beverly Hills with a clear goal: to create a medical experience centered on time, continuity, and direct access. In 2009, she expanded into a dedicated medical office designed to support privacy, longer visits, and a more individualized experience. Many patients and families have worked with her across generations, drawn by consistency, trust, and clear communication.

Depth Over Snapshots

Rather than brief, episodic visits, Dr. Baker practices medicine with the time and continuity required to understand how your symptoms, history, and lifestyle fit together.

Interpretation Over Information

Advanced testing and biomarkers are only valuable when thoughtfully interpreted. Dr. Baker uses her expertise to translate complex data into meaningful clinical insight.

Direct Continuity

Patients work directly with Dr. Baker over time. You benefit from her sustained personal involvement rather than delegated or fragmented care.

Comfort Navigating Complexity

Many concierge practices focus strictly on wellness optimization. Dr. Baker is comfortable diagnosing and managing medically complex, chronic cases that others often overlook or refer out.
